A blog by the kids at Circle Round the Square Arts and Wellness Day Camp in Nelsonville, Ohio
About
Circle Round the Square, Paper Circle’s arts and wellness programming for children, was launched in the summer of 2005 in response to the lack of art education K-8 in the Nelsonville-York City School District. Our intensive summer programming provides area students with hands-on experiences designed to introduce them to a wide range of arts and wellness activities, lacking in the school curriculum. Following its resounding success, the program has grown each year in participation and programming. (Please see history) Our arts curriculum is based on our intensive rotation model, and delivers over 66 hours of arts learning in a five week period. Much like language immersion we believe that this has a greater impact on creativity than the traditional 45 minute a week model provided in schools. Our goal remains to help children develop creative skills, improve their self-esteem, and foster friendships and group interaction through the creative process of making art, based on four principles: Learn, Create, Accomplish, and Be Recognized.
